SARAH GRABAU

This project required the design of an existing building in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp District.  The concept was to be derived from a foreign country of our choice.  I chose Cuba and the concept of restoration.  Restoration umbrellas several ideas within the design and within the country of Cuba.  The goal in designing VIDA Hoy Como Ayer was to create a fun energetic environment for guests where they can experience an atmosphere abounding in Cuban lifestyles. The concept of restoration is exemplified in the transformation of the staircase and ascending evolution of the floors.
